The Union government has launched Aarambh Mobile App for the road maintaince. This application was launched on 24-July-2017 by Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister for Panchayati Raj, Rural Development, Drinking Water & Sanitation, and Deborah Greenfield, Deputy Director General (Policy) of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
Aarambh Mobile App aims at resource mobilization for rural roads maintenance has always been a challenge for the States. This Concept Note outlines innovative ways which can be adopted by the state governments for mobilizing additional funds for road maintenance and presents some international best practices worldwide.
Highlights of Aarambh App:
Aarambh Mobile Phone App aims at use of GIS based mapping for making road inventories, condition surveys, and producing cost estimates and other relevant data for preparation and monitoring of annual road maintenance plans.
Aarambh Mobile App would greatly help in improving the service delivery for road maintenance in all the States.

Benefits of Aarambh App:
Aarambh is mobile phone based app which will allow for contracting and community contracting for maintenance of rural roads.
This Mobile aap aims at use of Geographic Information system(GIS) based mapping for making road inventories, condition surveys, and producing cost estimates and other related data for preparation and monitering of annual road maintaenace plans.
Concept and Guidance Note for Mobilizing Funds for Maintenance of Rural Road:
In addition, the Ministry also launched a Concept Note and Guidance Note for Mobilizing Funds for Maintenance of Rural Road. The note outlines innovative ways, that can be adopted by State Governments for mobilizing additional funds for road maintenance and also adopt international best practices worldwide. It will help states to overcome challenge of resource mobilization for rural roads maintenance.
